Update on Recent Weather Conditions in Vietnam and Their Impact on the Seafood Supply Chain

In recent weeks, several regions in Central Vietnam have been heavily affected by continuous heavy rain, flooding, and seasonal storms. These extreme weather events have impacted local communities, fishing activities, aquaculture farms, and the production schedule at processing plants. We would like to provide a transparent update so that our valued partners can better understand the current situation.

1. Current Storm and Flooding Situation in Central Vietnam

Central Vietnam is currently in the peak of the storm season. Prolonged rainfall has caused severe flooding, landslides, and widespread power outages. Rising water levels have disrupted transportation and daily life for thousands of households.

Weather forecasts indicate that this challenging situation may continue, with more storms and tropical depressions expected to form in the coming weeks.

2. Impact on Local Communities, Fishermen, and Raw Material Supply

Fishing and aquaculture operations are among the most affected:

  • Offshore fishing has been suspended due to dangerous sea conditions.

  • Many ponds, cages, and farming structures have been damaged or swept away.

  • Harvesting activities are delayed because of flooded roads and power shortages.

As a result, the availability of seafood raw materials has decreased significantly, especially for wild-caught and river/lake-farmed species.

3. Disruptions in Production and Risk of Shipment Delays

At processing plants, production has also been impacted by the severe weather:

  • Temporary power outages have slowed or halted operations at times.

  • Transportation of raw materials from farms to factories has become difficult.

  • Some workers living in flooded areas cannot travel to work.

These factors may cause production delays for certain orders currently being processed.

4. Supply Pressure During the Year-End Holiday Peak Season

The end of the year normally brings a sharp increase in demand for seafood, especially for:

  • Christmas

  • New Year

  • Lunar New Year (particularly for Chinese and Asian markets)

This year, demand continues to rise, but raw material supply is limited due to the storms and flooding. As a result:

  • Raw material prices are increasing

  • Total available supply may not meet all last-minute orders

  • Competition for raw materials among factories is becoming more intense

5. Recommendations for Our Partners

Despite these challenges, we remain committed to maintaining quality and fulfilling orders to the best of our ability. To minimize risks during this period, we kindly recommend:

  1. Placing orders earlier than usual, so we can secure raw materials and production slots in advance.

  2. Confirming estimated quantities soon, helping us plan raw material purchasing more effectively.

  3. Staying in close communication with our sales team for real-time updates on production and availability.

We believe that early coordination between both sides will ensure stable supply and reduce potential disruptions during the peak holiday season.
